Title says it all really. In 2020 Nasa are planning to send a helicopter to Mars. Because of the difference in the planet it's a pretty big deal, like it has to be more than twice as strong as it would be on earth.

Anyway, it's kind of a cool thing to do. Something of a first.

Wow, soon it'll be like Total Recall and we'll have colonies on Mars. Ok, not soon at all but hopefully someday.

A helicopter? That seems silly, what with the sandstorms, wind, elements, e.t.c. that the planet experiences. Even any kind of other aircraft would need some hefty tech navigating that planet.

The weather on Mars is fairly tame. From what I've seen, they want a drone more than a helicopter. Which makes sense. They can cover far more ground than a rover can. Can't quite carry as many experiments though...

It really makes you wonder if people in power know of a reason to become so aggressive about finding other suitable habitats...

Certainly sounds more like a drone in practice, but because of the design of the thing they've decided to call it a helicopter.
