There's probably some truth to that, but I don't think it's nefarious.

It depends on what you consider a "midcarder" I guess. AJ held the belt for nearly a year and just finished his program with Bryan. They could always come back to it later, or get one more match out of it at the Rumble, but I think it's over. In that case, his time in the title picture is probably over for a little while, which both he and the belt could probably use. But we'll see him with WWE or Universal gold around his waist again before it's all said and done. AJ seems to be the one guy that they "know what they have" with.

He's also in his early 40s, he doesn't need the title and like Coach says, There's also a chance he ends up on Raw challenging for that top title post mania. Also, he might take time off after mania or even after this to heal up. Curious to see what they do with him at Mania.

I didn't mean there was anything nefarious about it, and his age is there for all to see. Just spreading the news/rumours that I see.

Talking to people actually still get the sense some people are surprised he got the breaks in WWE that he did.

This seems to be a developing situation as Dave has switched to reporting that he could be one of the guys to consider it when his contract is up.

So, who knows. Believe it when you see it is probably the best advice.

Most interesting for me is that WWE have let him do those appearances.

I mean, one look at his Twitter likes, as I understand, is enough to show he holds those views and is a flat Earth right wing conspiracy theorist. But WWE has almost always been apolitical publicly.

Styles is a Flat Earther? Seriously?

I get that he is a right wing, born again Christian, which is perfectly ok, (regardless of my or anyone's personal feelings on either) but a Flat Earther? That is just pure stupidity.

Who cares about his, or anyone else's political affiliations? Do we really have to be this intolerant of it?

I don't care about his political or religious affiliations in the slightest, but the flat earth thing really bothers me because he is smarter than that.

    So, anyway....

I haven't seen any of the build, what's the rationale for his match at Wrestlemania?

Go back and watch their promo at each other on Smackdown. It was really scripted, but also very good.

its basically been built off Orton having a lack of respect for what AJ has done cause he comes from the indies.

Yeah, I didn't go back and watch the promo. And it sounds like it's an angle we'd seen a thousand times before.

    Anyway.... Styles heading to RAW.

Yes, exactly what RAW needs another face behind Rollins, Reigns, Miz and now AJ.

An AJ Styles heel turn on SD, followed by reuniting the Club in full force would have been better. The Club vs The New Day with AJ vs Kofi and Big E and Xavier vs the Good Brothers for the tag titles would have been perfect.

Nothing is stopping him from turning heel on Raw, plus who knows? Roman Reigns could still move onto Smackdown.

I can see an AJ Styles heel turn leading into a feud with Balor for the IC title. However, at the moment, you are right. Rey Mysterio, The Miz, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman? As it stands, Raw is very face heavy for the uppercard.

As is Smackdown, for that matter. Although Reigns socking McMahon certainly leaves an interesting question there.

Not much of a question. Vince has always been a heelish character (barring some circumstances) and this time wasn't really much of an exception. I don't think Reigns will go heel any time soon. You are very correct that now Smackdown is very face heavy. Only heels not involved in the tag team division are Elias, Bryan (and Rowan) and Lars Sullivan. I suppose maybe Brey Wyatt if he goes to smackdown.

Yeah, and given Bryan is out and Lars/Elias have both only just got on the brand, there's basically no opponent for Kofi...

I think Big O will be turning before MitB.

Probably. He's a great heel, but I would not mind seeing what else he can do as a face.

So, I saw that Styles won the LoP wrestler of the decade. Thoughts?

Unsurprising given he's had a lot of mainstream US exposure. I mean, I think it's wrong, I think there are better candidates in WWE right now (Bryan has had a far more interesting/varied character and wrestling decade than Styles, for example), let alone globally (it's been the decade of guys like Okada, Tanahashi, Naito, Omega...personally, I'd say Ishii, Shibata, LA Park. There are guys out there who've had better, more impressive, in ring decades than Styles) but it is what it is.

I couldn't tell you one really amazing thing he's done since debuting in WWE, for example - even the matches vs Cena that people loved I couldn't get on board with. His best match since joining was vs Bryan at TLC, and even that was against Bryan - who could get three and a half stars from a baseball bat.

Didnít Bullet Club really explode once AJ took over as leader? If so, could this contribute to a lot of the votes for wrestler of the decade?

Consistency is likely a factor. He wouldn't get my vote, but I understand why someone would vote for him.

I mean, potentially - the thing with AJ is that his presence gave Bullet Club a 'true' main event leader - before that it was Devitt, and he wasn't really at that level. So you could say that it really blew up when AJ was leading it, but equally I think it was pretty well placed to do so, and with the Bucks behind it they were surely going to end up shipping a ton of merch. What really helped Bullet Club explode was that the people in it were present on the US scene, and the had a Bullet Club US and Bullet Club Latin America which spread the name recognition.
