You beat me to it.
I recognize almost all of these, but my brain is operating on limited functionality right now.
I know that 1 is Batman Begins.
2 is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
3 is The 40 Year Old Virgin.
I think 4 may be Fantastic 4.
6 is Brokeback Mountain.
9 is Sin City.
I know that I know the other three, but it's just not clicking.
I guess the theme is 2005?
-
Feeling Minnesota
Well done on all so far and the theme.

I think 7 is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? I might be wrong but I'm working on the presumption that the theme is films of 2005.

I'll see you home, with Wedding Crashers for #5.

Alright, here we go. There is a theme. I think that two of these could be potentially tricky due to them not being the most super well known flicks in the world or anything. One could be somewhat tricky just due to the image chosen.
1. Predator (sheepster)
2. Robocop (sheepster)
3. Evil Dead 2 (Spinmaster)
4. Adventures in Babysitting (Powder)
5. Good Morning Vietnam (Gooner)
6. A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors (Powder)
7. Three Men and a Baby (Spinmaster)
8. Hellraiser (Spinmaster)
9. Throw Momma From The Train (sheepster)

5. is Good Morning Vietnam I believe. That's the only one that is shouting out to me at the moment.

Drawing a blank so far, but I know that I know number 7.

Do we need clues already?
-
Feeling Minnesota
Some are very familiar, but clues would be helpful.

Is #3 either The Descent, or I Spit On Your Grave?
-
Word Enthusiast
Neither are right, Clive.
A reminder that there is a theme. Pretty hard to uncover when only one has been guessed, though.
Here are some clues.
#1 was the first of a series of films, the latest of which will be coming before long.
#2 is probably the most violent film I've ever seen that had an accompanying toy line and cartoon series.
#3 is an iconic film within its genre and is probably the most well regarded of a franchise that only recently met its end.
#4 was hyping Thor LONG before anyone knew of any Hemsworths.
#6 is generally cited as the fan favorite of a film series that would go on to boast 9 films in total.
#7 does not have a ghost in it, regardless of what you may have heard.
#8 is one that I would surely Lament you not having seen.
#9 is the most vague of all these movies, I would argue, despite being an excellent dark comedy and one of its stars being among the most beloved figures in modern television.

3. A Nightmare on Elm Street?
7. Drop Dead Fred?
All guesses.
-
Word Enthusiast
Neither is correct, unfortunately.

Sticking with a guess for 3, and the link is a very thin thread.
Is #3 The Ring? And is theme - movies which are set in the Far East?
-
Number 7 is 3 men and a baby????
-
Feeling Minnesota
4 is Adventures in Babysitting. I knew it from the start, but damn. Vincent D’Onfrio as Thor is awesome.
-
Word Enthusiast
#3 is not The Ring, and the theme isn't movies set in the Far East. That'd be a really interesting potential theme, though!
Three Men and a Baby and Adventures in Babysitting are both correct.
Here's another batch of clues to maybe get this rolling harder.
#1 produced one of the most iconic catchphrases identified with arguably the most iconic 80s and 90s action star. Come on, guys, you know this one. Get to it.
#2 is great, but I'd have loved to have seen the main villain threaten to put his foot up someone's ass just once.
#3 is so good it definitely deserves a hand.
Remember the era when horror movies had cool songs written especially for them? #6 boasts perhaps the best of the bunch.
#8 is so iconic that I'm puzzled no one has gotten it yet.
#9 is, again, the most vague of this bunch. That being said, it was the directorial debut of one of its stars and actually one of the highest grossing films in its year of release, grossing a good bit more than even some fairly iconic flicks also released that year. Hell, it even garnered an Oscar nomination for one of its stars. Despite perhaps not being widely remembered, at the time it came out the accolades kept right on chugging along.

1. Terminator
3. Saw
6. Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Again, I knew it...but not sure.
-
Word Enthusiast
Dream Warriors is correct. The other two, unfortunately, are not.
If the Saw guess was based upon my latest clue, I feel the need to point out that the dude in that flick cut off a foot, not a hand. lol
-
Number 3 is Evil Dead II?
-
Word Enthusiast
Number 2 is Evil Dead II.

I see I was very close with my Far East cinema theme. Ahem...
I'm so stumped with these bad boys.
-
Word Enthusiast
I suppose a few more hints are in order.
The theme pertains to the year of release for this group of films.
I'm not gonna give a hint for #1. I ain't got time for hints.
I mentioned how the villain in #2 never once threatened to put his foot up someone's ass. Thing is, I'm not sure the main protagonist even has an bunghole with which to accommodate said foot even if he had.
#8 will give one a whole new appreciation for the beauty product line Olay's slogan from a few years back.
If you asked Jason Vorhees or Forrest Gump if they liked #9, I get the feeling they would reply in the negative.

Number 2 is Robocop perhaps?
I don't understand how no one has guessed at number 9 yet. Look at the difference in shoe sizes. That's clearly Danny DeVito. It's got to be Throw Momma From The Train.
-

Your clue for number 1 threw me off. Greatest action star, sure. But which catchphrase? I reckon that's the part that threw Powder off with his guess.
If it ain't Terminator, it's got to be a god damned sexual tyrannosaurus.
Wait. I mean Predator.
-
Word Enthusiast
Predator, Robocop and Throw Momma From the Train are correct. The line I was referencing in #1, for the record, was, "Get to the chopper!".
Man, I just knew that 1 and 2 would go super early. This has been a surprising turn of events.
All that's left is #8. The title is a compound word, with the latter half evoking thoughts of Scott Hall.
sheepster currently sits in the lead but Powder or Spinny could make it interesting if they guess the final one. Shouldn't be too hard after that fairly blatant clue.
-
The clues make me think its one movie but the picture doesn't evoke that movie in my mind. Oh well, let's go for it. Hellraiser???
-
Word Enthusiast
It is, indeed, Hellraiser. The image is the burst of light coming from the puzzlebox in Pinhead's hands.
We have ourselves a tie between Spinmaster and sheepster. Spinny was the first of the two to make a correct guess, but sheepster was the first to get to three correct answers. Kind of a toss-up, honestly. I'll let you guys determine who's going next.
-

Any movement on this? Feels like it has died out

In the old version of the game I think Spinmaster would have won it if he got the first correct answer - I don't know if that helps decice and hurry us towards a nice challenge...
"The worst moron is the one too stupid to realise they're a moron."
-
Feeling Minnesota
I thought it went to Spin bc he got the most correct.
-

No, Sheep and Spin both got three right.
"The worst moron is the one too stupid to realise they're a moron."
-

I'm just gonna flip a coin. Spin is heads, sheep is tails.
...
Heads it is. Spinmaster, you're up, my man.
-

If I can get one together before Spinmaster does, I'll be posting it up regardless and stealing the win too.
