How the score works: There are three statistics tracked, views, columns and replies, everyone who posted a column is ranked on these three lists, the score are added up and then multiplied by the number of months that said columnist posted in. This gives you your columnist score.

Prime raises TripleRís arm. The fans chant ďThank you RobĒ for the retiring legend. Rob makes his exit as the fans cheer him. Primeís music starts back up and he resumes his celebration.

Firstly, that is not a typo. Rob amassed almost 30,000 views on his Columns last year. He came away with first place in that category. And that is almost entirely thanks to one column of his, Over-Rock-Sposure column ended up scoring just over 18,000 views, I donít know how, but it did, and right now the column sits at 36,000+ views.

Aside from that TripleR netted 5th in the other two categories. Ultimately his falling down was the fact that he retired, TripleR posted for 6 of the first several months (missed June) before retiring, missing August and September before popping in for a couple group projects in Oct, Nov and Dec. if not for those missed months, Rob would have easily made the final group.

And so we say farewell to TripleR, he is the first of our quarter finalists to be eliminated, but he wonít be the last, join us back here tomorrow for the next match and we can find out who will be joining Prime in the Semi-finals? But until then I hope you have enjoyed todays match and I will see you next time for more.

Are you planning on doing this next year too?

I think it should stop being Unofficial - if you're going to keep it going, as there isn't an alternative I say this is the Official thing.

@Dynamite: Iím definitely going to be doing it again for this year, though in a different format since this has taken quite a long time to finish. Maybe a smaller tournament or a battle royal, keep it all confined to the start of the year.

I donít know, it is technically unofficial as it hasnít been approved by any staff of the site. The official writer of the year is technically in the End of Year awards.

Thanks to everyone for reading, time for match two.

    The end continues to come

A solid score from Skulduggery, earning 8th in the Replies, 12th in views and a joint 14th for columns, a spot he shares with Skitz and Don. Couple in the 8 months he posted across and overall you come away with a good score. The thing that hurt him was definitely a lack of columns, aside from the greatest WrestleMania match and Summerslam match tourney he did, not a lot else from Skul. And ultimately while a big draw, it doesnít offer the same sort of consistency that other writers managed.

Iím kinda disappointed that Iíve made it to the finals, I was personally happy with top eight, I really hope I donít get through the semis or Iím gonna really start to worry about the integrity of the series. But that is an issue to deal with in the future as now it is time we bid a fond farewell to Skulduggery, who makes his exit at a respectable 10th place. And now it is time I bid you all a fond farewell for the time being, we are halfway through the quarter finals, who will join myself and PrimeTime in the Semi-finals? Weíll find out tomorrow but for now I hope you have enjoyed todayís column and I will see you next time.

Official writer of the year is different to Top Trumps winner of the year

I really hope I don’t get through the semis or I’m gonna really start to worry about the integrity of the series.
Why? You're one of the most consistent writers here. You've got a great and unique formula going with your predictions columns which are always a highlight of a PPV weekend.

    @Dynamite: Fair point.

While true that I am an active writer, the host of anything really shouldn’t be using the tournament to get themselves over. It just feels icky.

Thanks to everyone for reading so far. Time for our third match

Falling just short of the final four, Oliver delivered a lot last year, with Bearly going into its third year. The Bearly columns racked up 41 columns of Oliver’s 59. The remains were parts of other collabs and other bits and bobs throughout the year. Oliver’s score was very impressive, managing third in both replies and columns, and fourth in views.

The only reason that Oliver didn’t make it to the semi’s was the fact that he and Bear were brought up to the main page in October. Those three months would hurt his score and keep him from the final four. But really, we shouldn’t be looking at ways to improve here, out of the 60+ writers that wrote in 2018, Oliver was the fifth best. That is something to be proud of.

And with that we have only one quarter final match left for tomorrow. Who will be the final writer to get their place in the finals? Will it be Mizfan or will it be Steve. You’ll have to come back tomorrow to find out as for now it is time I bid you a fond farewell. As always I hope you have enjoyed todays match and I will see you tomorrow.

A great showing from our Ayatollah, across the three categories he managed fourth and fifth in replies and views respectively, while also netting ninth for total columns. We couldnít really ask for more, though that is really what Steve would have needed to get up there. All of our final four writers posted in 10+ months and I think that is what has separated those into finalists. Ultimately Steve was here for 29 columns and still won most missed at the end of year awards, and that is genuinely impressive levels of belovedness (is that a word).

And thus we have our final four, itís me, PrimeTime, DynamiteBillington and Mizfan. We have only a couple more matches before we crown the ultimate champion of 2018, and how much of 2019 do we have left now Ö three months. Iím sure weíll get it done before years end, but for now, it is time I bid you all a fond farewell, as always I hope you have enjoyed todays match and have enjoyed the last few days of action and I will see you next time.

2018's four workhorses in the semi-finals there, seems fair enough to me!
