    S'ok. I do quality evaluations in a call center, which is better than what I was doing before, which was working the helpdesk and talking to the angriest customers that shitty agents didn't want to deal with. Got a new boss how is more neurotic about small things like timecard stuff, but I still get to work a flexible schedule, which is mostly great, unless some stupid meeting gets scheduled at a stupid time. But yeah, overall it's good stuff and I have enough time to troll around on this site in my spare time and write stuff about Bobby Heenan.

    Work? You mean the slags around me working the streets? Or job as in blowjob?

    I don't understand this concept of "Work".

    Work for a VoIP (Voice over IP - Internet phones in laimans terms) company as tech support, but am hoping to get a promotion (today!) to marketing shortly as a technical copywriter. Should mean more money, not dealing with customers (the dream) and hopefully a rekindled interest in writing.

    Would still give it up in a heartbeat if I won the lottery mind you...

    I've heard some absolute horror stories for working in call centers. I am a Small Business Specialist at one of the big banks in Australia so I have to deal with customers face to face and over the phone but the heavy motoring, call timing and general draconian practices that goes on in call centers would be a real tough thing for me to deal with.

    I actually enjoy working with customers directly, they can be tough sometimes and have high expectations but at the same time it is very rewarding when you can genuinely connect with someone, find out about their goals and help them achieve them.

    It is funnily enough not an industry I would have ever seen myself working in. I originally trained to be a journalist but realised it wasn't for me while also working in customer service which I was enjoying, I made the switch and worked my way up in my bank. In October I hit 6 years with the bank and I've had 4 roles in that time so I've made pretty good progress. Am working may way towards the next level which will mean just dealing with bigger businesses and being able to lend more money to them. I'm in no rush though because my current team and manager are probably the best I've had at any point since I got my first casual job at 15.

    I'm lucky insofar as our center doesn't have any really bad management practices. There is pressure on the agents to hit certain goals and act certain ways, obviously, but generally it's not too stifling. Plus, since I'm not on the front lines anymore, I don't have to deal directly with that stuff!

    My brother works in a bank and he does pretty well. I feel like the good thing about that kind of job is everybody is pretty professional, at least on the customer facing side. I could be wrong about that though.

    I work for an insurance company dealing with the creation of policy forms and such. Recently my company made a deal and sent 2200 of us across the country to another company essentially doing the exact same thing but now in sort of a contractor relationship. It's been a weird couple of months, as I'm doing the same job I was doing before, but I'm basically a new employee now.
