Any chance this is Scott Hall?

He was once called Texas Scott....

Trained by Dusty, so he hates the letter S for him.

Clearly reaching on the last clue.

    Oh hang on. Bret Hart?

I don't know for sure that he would have been called the most improved wrestler of the 1980s, but it sounds like something they would have said on commentary when he turned heel in the WWF during the Hart Foundation days.

    Briefly 'Cowboy' Bret Hart.

And for the last clue, I'm turning my mind to the famous Austin promo: 'If you put the letter S before Hitman.....'

Dammit. I bet that is right. I knew that Vince initially wanted Bret as a cowboy, but I could not find any connection to the letter S, which is why I ruled him out. But the '(S) Hitman' promo is it.

    well done.

    Prime with the win.

And yes, Gorilla called Bret the most improved wrestler of 1986 often.

That was a good one, actually. One of those that if you forget the promo you'd have a hard time making the connection to that clue, but once it comes back to you the whole thing falls into place.

    1) I was the replacement for a former world champion.
    2) I was both a military man and a hired assassin.
    3) I once made an appearance in the Royal Rumble match.

    4) As well as working for the WWF, I wrestled across a large number of different territories, including for World Class, Mid-Atlantic, and the AWA.

This is a really good one. Been thinking about it for a few days and I still canít quite land on someone that hits on all the clues. I feel like the military man and hired assassin clue should be what allows me to narrow this down but I also think there is a play on words in there somewhere - like the subject of the clues was a member of one of the main tag teams that were dubbed the Assassins. Iíll go ahead and guess Barbarian for now despite the fact that I believe he was in more than one Rumble. He was part of Paul Jonesí army and part of the super assassins (with Warlord). I think he wrestled for all the mentioned organizations and you didnít say it was an exhaustive list so you didnít have to mention WCW. He probably subbed for Vader at some point when they were wrestling under the managerial services of Harley Race....so yeah...Barbarian

    No, not Barbarian.

    5) I was billed as hailing from both the US and USSR.

BK has it. Zhukov, or Private Jim Nelson, was bought in to one territory as a hired assassin by Skandor Akhbar, and replaced Iron Sheik as Volkoff's tag partner (forming The Bolsheviks in the process).

I am 0-5 at Clash of Champions in my career, but only wrestled at four Clashes.
    I am 1-3 at NWA/WCW PPVs.
Of nine matches referenced above, I only wrestled three under the name most associated with my wrestling persona.

So from the clues I'm guessing he wrestled twice at a clash, probably under a different gimmick.

So I'm guessing Jack Victory, I think he performed under a number of different gimmicks at the time?

That's a decent shout - if they needed to put someone under a mask in those days it was usually him.

Gooner got it. Well played. I refrained from mentioning wrestling under a hood because I thought that would give it away. He did pull double duty at a clash, one match in a mask and one as himself against Lex Luger. All four clashes he wrestled at were in 1989 coincidentally, but there were five clashes in 1989 so he didnít wrestle on every clash that year.

    Wooooo

    1. I have won multiple WWE titles as well as one Slammy Award.
    2. I've appeared in each of the last 5 WWE 2K games
    3. I was reportedly not meant to win one of my titles...

This may be a trick question.

HBK. He was not "meant" to win at the 1997 Survivor Series, but he did. Bret thought that he was going to win, buuut, HBK did.

    Not HBK,

    Just to be absolutely clear...

    1. I have won multiple WWE titles as well as ONLY one Slammy Award.
    2. I've appeared in each of the last 5 WWE 2K games ONLY (so no previous versions)

    Yep, it's Kalisto

The title he wasn't meant to win was the Cruiserweight Title from Enzo Amore, as it was initally pegged to be Neville before he went on AWOL

    Nice:

    1. I have had multiple titles reigns in 2 Major American promotions, and they were a total of 7 different titles.
    2. My biggest break came at the cost of another, but in essence I owe my career to my former manager.
    3. I am somewhat responsible for a Funkadactyl.

    It's been a day, so clue #4:

    4. I had arguably the worst roll up victory after one of the most famous botches in all of wrestling.

YES!!!! I wanted to make an easier one.

    1. I have had multiple titles reigns in 2 Major American promotions, and they were a total of 7 different titles.

WCW: TV Champ 2X, US Champ 2X, WCW Tag Champ, NWA Tag Champ
WWF/E: WWF Champ 6X, IC Champ 2X, Tag Champ 4X

    2. My biggest break came at the cost of another, but in essence I owe my career to my former manager.

Austin's biggest break was at the King of the Ring 1996 at the cost of HHH for being punished for the Curtain Call.
BUT, when he got fired from WCW, Paul Heyman hired Austin and taught him how cut a promo, and essentially developed his entire SCSA persona in ECW.

    3. I am somewhat responsible for a Funkadactyl.

Austin was the host for Tough Enough season 5, where he had a lot of input for the contestants, and Cameron is the only one to come out of T.E.S.5., and she was the other Funkadactyl with Naomi.

    4. I had arguably the worst roll up victory after one of the most famous botches in all of wrestling.

Austin's roll up on Owen Hart was understandably terrible after the botched Piledriver.

I had no idea on the Funkadactyl clue. The fourth clue definitely helped quite a bit. Looking back at clue 2 after seeing clue 4 I figured out Paul E, but went the wrong direction on expense of another clue: went the Bret Hart route, as SCSA may have been moved to the front of the line sooner because Hart left for WCW, but either way...

    this one should be quick

    1) Despite being recognized as one of the all time greatest in the ring, I was involved in an Observer rated worst match of the year.
    2) I have won tag gold with too many partners to mention, two of which are WWE HoFers.
    3) I was involved in the only match to receive a five star rating from Meltzer held on US soil in 1992 (if the previous clues didn't give it away this should)

Shit! Technically, I think you may be right based on the clues, but it's not who I was aiming for. I'll be happy to give this one to you based on the fact that my clues were not sufficiently specific enough

Well I'm pretty sure the Dave Meltzer 5 star match is the Wargames match from 1992... so a possible other guess would be Bobby Eaton?

yup...that was who I was thinking of.

Worst Match was the scaffold match with Eaton & PN News vs Terry Taylor and Steve Austin from GAB 91
Eaton tagged with a ton of people and won belts, the two HOFers are Arn and Sweet Brown Sugar (aka Koko B Ware)
you already named the 5 star match on US soil from 92

fascinating to see the parallels between Arn and Bobby to a degree. Of course Arn could talk on the mic and well....Bobby had his drawbacks there

    1. During one rumble, I eliminated the most people.
    2. I am a former World Champion
    3. I was involved in an accidental death in the ring.
