Ah! No. But I think I can see which why you were heading and I like the thinking.

Yeah, clues seemed to fit that era, something like an Asya from WCW.

    6) for many years I was famous as a great example of Vince McMahon's fetish for muscular bodies over wrestling ability.
    7) I was born in Europe in 1962.

It’s Brakkus, isn’t it? I was thinking Nicole Bass until you confirmed it’s not a woman. They had about the same in-ring ability.

I think I have tried to block as much Brakkus as I can out of my mind.

    Okay here we go:

    1) I famously (allegedly) received an apology from Andre the Giant for a comment he made that I took offense to (if anyone knows this rumored story it’s probably game over).
    2) I am a former 4 time Stampede North American Heavyweight Champion.
    3) I am a former Olympian.

Isn't that Bad News Brown and a racist remark?

And also allegedly Andre backed down as Brown was one of the few men Andre was legit afraid of.

I've heard Coage himself tell a slightly different version, where it was him that was shit scared and just felt he had to do it anyway - and Andre basically apologised because he was that drunk he didn't even really remember what he'd said.

The funny bit is Hogan apparently told him that he assumed he had a gun when he called Andre out, and hid under the seat of the bus!

But yeah, can't imagine boss apologised to many people.

    1. I won 1 title in the WWF as a Tag Team Champion
    2. My biggest claim to fame was when I completely changed my look and gimmick including gaining a lot of weight.
    3. My signature Leather jacket was given to Roddy Piper, where it became a part of his permanent attire.

The leather jacket clue was all I needed

    1) I was involved in famously terrible vignettes in WCW with no eventual payoff.
    2) I spent my time in the WWF as enhancement talent - during which time I was Dustin Rhodes first opponent AND with a partner was the LOD’s first opponent.
    3) I was World Class heavyweight champion but never defeated anyone for the title.

Tricky one, this... I don't know world class well enough to make much of the third clue.

If needed I can expand on clue 1 or drop a fourth clue.

Love me some World Class - very nostalgic for me. I used to watch reruns in syndication on ESPN when I was in grade school

I'm actually working my way through it on the Network and yeah, it's a bit of a favourite of mine. But I just wasn't available here at all. You couldn't really get anything but WWF and Crockett in the UK back in the preinternet era.

But yeah, maybe another clue would be helpful? Don't want to speak for everyone though...

    4) I portrayed a big tough Texan and tagged with another wrestler that portrayed a big tough Texan, both in Florida and under the Crocket Banner

    Well done sir!

Clue 1 referred to the Desperados debacle that was meant to set up the return of Stan Hansen to WCW. He opted not to come back to the US, so the whole storyline had absolutely no payoff.

Black Bart was given the World Class belt after Chris Adams left. There was a kayfabe story about Bart beating Adams in LA which was spun by WCCW.

Great! That was a tough one, I must say.

    OK then, try this.

    1) I was an alternate for the American Olympic team on three occasions.
    2) I am a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
    3) I was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2010.

I seem to remember hearing about something along those lines about the olympics. Like that he thought he was probably the best or 2nd best in the world but because there was only one space he only got in as an alternate.

    1. I started my wrestling career in Mexico.
    2. I have over 1000 matches across many promotions, with a win percentage of only 40.7%.
    3. I have only ever won one belt in my career, but I have won it 4 times.

Every time I try and think of someone who has won just one title I end up remembering 3-4 others that they've won....

Hehe... it's fairly strange for someone to have only held one belt multiple times in their whole career, without acquiring a different belt at some point, but this guy has.

Ta da!! We have a winner!

Yes, it is Okada. I'll run through the clues:

    1. I started my wrestling career in Mexico. He started out wrestling in Toryumon Mexico at Ultimo Dragons training school.
    2. I have over 1000 matches across many promotions, with a win percentage of only 40.7%. Surprisingly his win percentage is fairly low for someone that has been the main event for the last few years. However, even in the last two years, his win percentages are 38.3% and 35.5%; I believe NJPW have a habit of putting on lots of main event tag matches? Could explain it.
    3. I have only ever won one belt in my career, but I have won it 4 times. I specified belt because he obviously does have a few other accolades, G1 Climax and other tournament wins. But for actual championships/belts, he's only even work the IWGP Heavyweight title (To be honest, this was the clue that made me want to do this particular choice)
    4. Some of the wrestling promotions I have wrestled for include TNA, ROH, NJPW as well as numerous indy promotions. Self explanatory, he's been pretty much all over the place.
    5. I won three PWI awards in 2017. Not just any awards. Match and Feud of the year (with Kenny Omega) and No 1 in the PWI 500.
    6. I was trained by Ultimo Dragon. See clue 1.
    7. My TNA appearances were mostly limited to dark matches or matches on Xplosion. Apparently the way TNA used Okada had a direct impact on their working relationship with NJPW as they stopped sending talent to TNA shortly after.

I got thrown off the scent, or rather threw myself off the scent, because I convinced myself he'd won a belt in the UK for RevPro at some point. I still feel like I can remember that even though I know, now, that he hasn't. Weird the tricks that the mind plays on you.

The mention of Dragon and of TNA put me back on to him and I thought it was worth a try....

    OK, here's one.

    1) I wrestled more than 600 televised matches in my career.
    2) I was in the opening match at more than one Wrestlemania.
    3) I wrestled in four Royal Rumbles and two King of the Ring tournaments.

    So many options - Edge?

I realized that there was nowhere near enough of weekly tv hours for Tito to have six hundred televised matches

    No.

And extra clue might be that I believe those numbers of Rumble and King of the Rings are exact rather than 'at least'. Most of the names so far have been in way more of one or the other.
