You must pick one: Gaming edition
Can't believe we've never tried to start one of these before, given the possibilities.
Going to start off with an easy one, if only because you'll have already have this conversation already.
Playstation 4 or X-Box One

Xbox, primarily down to the controller. Feels a better fit in my hands. Games wise PS has a slight edge, but I prefer Xbox online. So Microsoft just edges it.
The standard 50/50 question - Fifa or Pro?
-
Administrator
Oooh that depends on which iteration of the game, what console you are playing on.... it's not a simple one for me at all. And I'm not exactly up to date with it either. The last time I played either, though, I would have taken FIFA.
SNES or SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis?

That's difficult too SNES had super Mario but Sega had Sonic
I think (and if I'm wrong dammit) SNES had Mortal Kombat so it gets my vote. Even though the game was practically impossible
I never owned either by the way, my friends had them.
N64 or Playstation 1?? Age old question lol

Mortal Kombat 2 was definitely on the Mega Drive/Genesis, with blood. I think the SNES lacked the gory blood.
N64 for me, quality over quantity. Better games on the N64, but PS1 had more. They were both superb consoles though.
Single player campaign or multiplayer modes?
-
Senior Member
MK1 in SNES didn't have blood, but MK2 and MK 3 did have blood. For Sega, MK 1, 2 and 3 all had blood (but for 1 you needed a code).
Here is MK2 side by side. I think once SNES added blood, then their game was better. But that's just me.
Okay on to the question...
For me, Single Player Campaignall the way. I love playing against people as much as the next person, but if I can't enjoy a game on it's own, then the game ain't fun. Give me the game, me, and time, and I'm all for it. Multiplayer can make for some fun nights, but if a game doesn't have a good single player campaign, is it even a game bro.
Okay... since this is a wrestling board...
WWE Raw series, or WWE 2K series
-
Toubabo Koomi
Is 2k the same as the smackdown series? If so I fucking loved here comes the pain so I'd go with that any day. So much fun putting people thru tables with various finishers like Gore, Pedigree and of course F5.
Command and conquer generals or tiberium wars?
-
Administrator
Anyone wanna take this one? I never played much command and conquer so I'd be picking at random really.

Um, lemme just say Generals so we can move on.
Somebody suggest something...

Best in series:
Batman Arkham Asylum
or
Batman Arkham City
or
Batman Arkham Knight
-

Based on the little bit I know probably Arkham Asylum.
Choice between two of the best-selling action/adventure games on the PS1.
Metal Gear Solid or Tomb Raider?

Metal Gear Solid. Have only really been a fan of Tomb Raider with the new reboot a few years ago.
But going off that theme...
Tomb Raider or Uncharted?
-
Administrator
Uncharted comes after the era when I was playing that kinda game, so it's pretty much by default but Tomb Raider
Zelda or Final Fantasy?

Zelda. Consistently brilliant. The worst Zelda game is probably on a par with some of the best FF games.
Better controller:
Playstation
or
Xbox
(For the record, the Gamecube was the best ever, but PS and Xbox haven't changed a lot so makes sense to ask about those).

I loved the original and 360 controller specifically for the thumbstick, up until ps4 the playstation thumbsticks felt far too light and springy.
Mass Effect or Dragon Age? Two major titles from my favorite game maker out there Bioware.
-
Senior Member
Mass Effect. I prefer futuristic games over dungeons and dragon type games. The original trilogy was fantastic (personally I think 3 gets a bad rap because of the ending, it's a superb game), Andromeda grew on me as I played it, but wasn't quite on the same level.
Which GTA Character would you most likely want to hang out with:
Trevor
Michael
Franklin
-
Member #25
I think all those guys where pretty messed up but I like my life so have to rule out Trevor, Michael would be pretty j boring so all up I'd have to go with Franklin who would ultimately probably be pretty chill.
Glad to see another person who loved ME3. Really amazing climax to the series with a number of genuinely touching story payoffs. Honestly I didn't hate the ending as much as everyone it there either although I suspect at that point I was so invested in the characters that they could have done a lot of terrible things and I'd have still liked it.
Better FPS
Halo or COD?
-
Senior Member
I didn't like the ending, per se, but it's not as if I was outraged. I think after three games, you do need closure, and by that I mean a happy ending. Don't think that happened in ME3.
I enjoy Halo more so than Halo, again same reason as before: I prefer futuristic games
Best MGS game?
I
II
III
IV
V

Oh boy. I'm no expert on the franchise but I think, looking back, I might go for the second one.
Smackdown: Here comes the Pain
or
Smackdown vs Raw 2006
"The worst moron is the one too stupid to realise they're a moron."

Mediocrity at it's finest
SVR 2006 definitely. I got a copy of HCTP and honestly, the game was completely unplayable, the characters did not control well compared to the SVR series.
GTA IV or GTA V?
-
Senior Member
GTA V for me. The main reason being that GTA IV is completely city based, whereas there is a lot more variety in GTA V. Storyline-wise, character-wise, etc. you could argue for either.
Pokemon Red/Blue
or
Pokemon Gold/Silver
-
Mediocrity at it's finest
A genuinely tricky one, neither is my favourite of the Pokémon games, and neither can I say I played the original of. I have played the remastered version for both, and if I had to pick, i'd go with Red and Blue. it provided a great base game and the remaster was a lot of fun when I was a kid.
Tomb Raider (all games) vs Assassins Creed (all games)
-
Senior Member
Assassins Creed, but barely. The rebooted Tomb Raider games are better than almost all the Assassins Creed games (I haven's played Shadow yet) but as a whole franchise, AC shades it for me.
Burnout (franchise)
or
Need For Speed (franchise)
-
Member #25
Not a massive one for racing games but I did love Need for Speed Underground in my teenage years so I'll go with that.
Back to GTA
Current generation (4 & 5)
Or
First 3d generation (3, VC & SA)
Or
Original 2d generation?
-
Administrator
The only ones I ever really got into were the 2d generation, to be honest.
Similar games in many ways, but:
N64 time
Goldeneye
or Perfect Dark?
"The worst moron is the one too stupid to realise they're a moron."

Goldeneye by a country mile. The original, and best FPS.
Online Multiplayer
or
Local Multiplayer
-
Mediocrity at it's finest
Local Multiplayer by miles for me. Online can be incredibly toxic and generally infuriating. While Local multiplayer is just mayhem with your friends and family.
Dunno if this one's been done already but
First Person Shooter
or
Third Person Shooter
-
Member #25
You can really tell our ages by the answers to the multi-player one. I don't know if gamers coming up today would even know how local multi-player is. For me nothing is better than a bunch of mates some beers and pizza and a few consoles or computers. The atmosphere in the room is amazing.
I don't play shooters for the 'shooter' aspect generally but looking at my favorite games it would clearly be third person like Mass Effect, Red Dead, Last of Us, etc
Shooters or Sword/magic

Sword/Magic, with the exception of first person games, then shooters.
Need For Speed
or
Burnout
-
Member #25
I've never been one for car games but in my high school years I did enjoy Need for Speed Underground and getting to modify those cars so I'll go with that.
Fallout or Skyrim?
